HARMONY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF EDUCATION
2025-2026 GOALS
- The HTESD Board of Education will cultivate a culture of respect, collaboration and trust.
- Require all board members to participate in a board retreat to ongoingly identify shared goals
- Allocate dedicated time during board meetings for professional development
- Focus on topics such as effective communication, strategic planning and governance.
- Ensure 90% of board members complete a board self-evaluation and results to be discussed in public session.
Measurement: Board self-evaluation, FY25 to FY26 comparison
- The HTESD Board of Education will develop a long-term strategic plan that reflects the community’s shared vision for student success by January of 2027.
- Host at least 3 community listening sessions across the district over the next 12 months.
- Leverage the NJSBA to support the process and implementation of community listening sessions
- Provide quarterly progress updates to the community through board meetings and district website in development of the long term strategic plan.
- Reevaluate the community engagement survey to contribute to the development of a long term strategic plan
- Require all board members to participate in a board retreat to ongoingly identify shared goals
Measurement: Establish the long-term strategic plan by January of 2027. Future years follow with annual board goals in alignment with long term strategic plan and progress reports.
- The HTESD board will establish a consistent and transparent policy management system aligned with the district vision to ensure timely, data-informed and legally compliant decision-making.
- Evaluate current policy compliance in accordance with Strauss Esmay guidance.
- Review outdated policies within six months of completed review.
- Identify the policy review cycle and a monthly cadence for review.
- For all major policy reviews/adoptions – include an analysis of the relevant data to inform discussion and measure impact to the district.
- Reinforce a Code of Ethics that holds board members accountable to their responsibilities during the policy process.
Measurement: Achieve 100% completion rate for the annual policy review schedule. Utilize the district board evaluation tool to complete an annual self-assessment of the policy making process and to identify areas for improvement.
