The Harmony Township Preschool Program is a 5 day/week program with 2 daily sessions. The morning session, for 3 and young 4 years olds, runs 9-11:30 and the afternoon session (4 and young 5 year olds) runs 12:40-3:10. The class is inclusive and includes both students with special needs and typically developing learners.
We use the Creative Curriculum Gold, which aligns with the NJ Preschool Standards. The curriculum targets all areas of preschool development, including Social-Emotional, Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Studies and the Arts. More info on Creative Curriculum can be found at teachingstrategies.com.
All activities are developmentally appropriate and involve a multi-sensory approach. Many activities are part of a theme or unit. I make sure the themes are interesting to most children and relevant to their life. Activities cross all curricular areas. Play is how young children learn best, so I make sure there are times each day for children to play.
Since preschool is the first experience with Harmony school, I want to set a great foundation for the children. We are here to make friends, learn new things, gain confidence in abilities and have fun!
