Principal's UPDATE #26
It Is A Great Day To Be A Husky! This week was broken up with a snow day on Tuesday. I hope all our students had a chance to play outside in the snow. The school-wide book swap was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who donated books and volunteered. Special thanks to the teachers on the committee for organizing this and helping to bring the joy of reading to our students. We had a school lockdown drill to continue to practice keeping our school safe. Our staff is vigilant and remains focused on student safety. I am grateful for the care, concern and professionalism that our staff shows each and every day. On Thursday the entire school participated in Read Across America’s Drop Everything and Read program. Our entire school community had a great week of teaching and learning!

Kindergarten had a fun week celebrating Read Across America, and Dr. Seuss's Birthday! Each day teachers highlighted a different Dr. Seuss' book and incorporated it into all of the academic areas. Students focused on listening and identifying all the rhyming words, sounding out nonsense words, colors, and practiced our counting and addition skills.

On Monday, Kindergarteners read "Put Me In The Zoo" and made crazy zoo characters for our bulletin board. On Wednesday, teachers read " Wacky Wednesday" and "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish." Everyone dressed wacky and had to find all the mixed up wacky things in our classroom. Students also practiced making addition sentences using red and blue fish to create a fish bowl craft. On Thursday Kindergarten read "The Cat In The Hat" and played Dr. Seuss board games. On Friday they read "Green Eggs and Ham and had fun making and trying real green eggs and ham! Students created a graph to predict if they would like them. Afterward students created another graph to see who actually did like them! Some students liked them and some did not! What a fun week for our Kindergarteners celebrating all things Dr. Seuss!
